Museum of Photography
The National Museum of Photography in Rabat is a unique place dedicated to photographic art, located in the historic setting of Fort Rottembourg, in the Océan district. Inaugurated in 2020, the museum highlights the richness of contemporary and classical photography while showcasing Moroccan visual heritage. The museum offers permanent and temporary exhibitions, featuring works by Moroccan and international photographers. These exhibitions cover a wide range of themes, from documentary photography to portraits, as well as innovative artistic projects. In addition to exhibitions, the museum offers workshops and educational activities for all audiences: children, students, photography enthusiasts, or casual visitors. These workshops allow participants to discover photographic techniques, retouching, and the history and evolution of photography. With interactive and immersive spaces, the museum provides a rich experience that combines art, technology, and culture. It is an ideal place to explore visual creativity, understand the history of photography, and appreciate the diversity of artistic expressions. It is supervised by the World Muslim League and developed with modern technologies such as virtual reality, holograms, interactive screens, 3D models, and more. Visit of the mausoleum Mohamed 5 and Hassan Tower
he Mohammed V Mausoleum, located on the esplanade of the Hassan Tower in Rabat, is an iconic monument of modern Alaouite architecture. Built between 1962 and 1971, it houses the tombs of King Mohammed V as well as those of his two sons, Hassan II and Moulay Abdallah. Its white marble exterior, green pyramidal roof, and finely carved facades make it a must-visit site. Inside, visitors can admire traditional zellige tiles, carved cedar wood, a decorated dome, and the large funerary hall at the center of which lies the tomb of Mohammed V. The mausoleum is permanently guarded by the Royal Guard in traditional attire, adding to the solemn atmosphere. Entrance is free, and the site is generally open throughout the day, except during certain official ceremonies. Directly opposite the mausoleum stands the Hassan Tower, the unfinished minaret of a monumental mosque started in 1195 by the Almohad Sultan Yacoub Al-Mansour. The project aimed to build one of the largest mosques in the world, but construction stopped upon the death of the sultan. Today, the tower reaches 44 meters in height, while the original plan called for over 70 meters. The esplanade is scattered with columns and pillar bases, remnants of the mosque’s original design. The site provides insight into the architectural ambition of the Almohad era and offers an open space ideal for panoramic photos of Rabat and the Bouregreg River. Mohammed 6 Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art
The Mohammed 6 Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art is a major cultural institution in Rabat dedicated to modern and contemporary Moroccan and international art. Inaugurated in 2014, it is the first major public museum in Morocco entirely devoted to modern arts, featuring modern architecture that integrates traditional Moroccan motifs. The museum presents a wide range of collections and temporary exhibitions, from painting to sculpture, including works by renowned Moroccan and international artists. It offers a profound cultural experience in a bright setting, often enriched by international events and temporary exhibitions. More than 500 paintings and about ten sculptures are preserved, studied, and mostly displayed to the public. Every year, prestigious temporary exhibitions allow visitors to discover a variety of artists and themes, from modern to contemporary art. Great names in art such as César, Giacometti, Goya, Picasso, Monet, Cézanne, Sisley, Renoir, El Glaoui, Cherkaoui, Gharbaoui, Chaibia Talal, Delacroix, and Cartier-Bresson have been exhibited at the museum as part of special exhibitions and retrospectives. 🕐 Opening Hours Open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Closed on Tuesday. 💵 Entrance Fees Adult ticket: 60 MAD for foreign visitors. National Museum of Jewelry, Oudaya
The National Museum of Adornment, located in the Kasbah of the Oudayas in Rabat (a UNESCO World Heritage site), is dedicated to traditional Moroccan adornment. It displays ancient jewelry, traditional costumes, and decorative objects from various regions of Morocco, notably Amazigh and Saharan areas. The museum highlights the role of adornments in social and cultural life (weddings, status, regional identity) and showcases Moroccan artisanal skills, including the personal collection of Amazigh jewelry of His Majesty King Mohammed 6. The exhibition is organized into thematic sections to explore the history, techniques, and regional styles. Land of Pioneers – Celebrates Morocco’s first unforgettable victories while revealing the world of iconic figures in national football. Land of Excellence – Explores the exceptional achievements of national teams and clubs from the 1950s to today. Hall of Fame – Honors those who have marked Moroccan football, including players, coaches, referees, and officials. Land of Hospitality – Offers a journey through memories of Morocco’s most prestigious sporting events, including cups, tournaments, and friendly or official matches, highlighting visits from major football personalities.
